This client wanted both a beautiful family residence worthy of the Bay of Plenty countryside, and also a home for much loved classic cars. A traditional American Barn was the basis of this unique design, complete with internal 6-car garaging, as well as a separate workshop and maintenance building.
The four bedrooms, open plan living, and first floor rumpus and leisure zone provide abundant family living and entertaining without compromise, and yet the huge vaulted garage and internal workshop, give room to store and work the classics, that many professional garage businesses would be jealous of.
The style is based on the traditional American Barn, but that is where the similarities stop. The structure is almost entirely timber framing, with only a few skeletal steel beams, unlike its metal skin counterpart. With typical battened timber cladding, and double glazed joinery, this is a family home to be envied.
